Meet Lucy, a stunning 16-year-old African Grey looking for her next chapter. Hatched in British Columbia and raised in Toronto, Lucy has been a cherished member of her family since 2011, and is now seeking a new home as her long-time caretakers retire to travel and her owner relocates internationally for work. Lucy is a sweet, spirited girl who absolutely loves to sing — it's her favourite pastime — talks a little, and happily keeps herself busy joyfully destroying her toys. She is friendly and deeply bonded to her primary caretakers, though she can be cage-territorial and hasn't been handled extensively, so she's looking for a calm, bird-savvy home with the patience to keep working with her on gentle handling and trust-building. Lucy is in excellent health with a recent, flawless vet check-up, has never exhibited any feather-plucking, is DNA-sexed female, microchipped, and has her wings kept clipped. Because she needs someone to continue working on handling, an adopter with previous large-parrot or African Grey experience is highly preferred. An adoption application is required to ensure the perfect match, and a rehoming fee applies to make sure she goes to a committed, secure home. If you have the time, patience, and love to offer this beautiful girl, please reach out to request an application.
Sweet, spirited, and full of personality. Lucy is friendly and deeply bonded to her primary caretakers but can be cage-territorial. She hasn't been handled extensively in her life, so she needs an experienced or patient adopter willing to invest time, love, and training to work with her. She loves to sing (her absolute favourite pastime), talks a little and enjoys showing off her vocabulary, and happily keeps busy destroying her toys.
Currently eats a mixed seed diet (does not eat pellets); loves fresh fruit and peanuts as her favourite treats. As a highly intelligent African Grey she needs daily mental stimulation, plenty of toys to shred, and ongoing patient handling sessions to build trust. Wings are kept clipped.
Excellent health. Recently had a full vet health check and received a flawless bill of health. Has never exhibited any feather-plucking behaviour. DNA-sexed female and microchipped. Wings have always been kept clipped.
Needs an experienced or patient adopter who will continue working on handling and trust-building, as she can be cage-territorial and hasn't been handled much. Previous large-parrot / African Grey experience is highly preferred. An adoption application is required and a rehoming fee applies.
Loves millet, will eat from hand.
