Living velvet — calm, striking, and dietary-special.
Eclectus parrots look almost unreal: emerald-green males and crimson-and-violet females, with feathers like fine hair. They're calmer and quieter than most parrots their size and can be wonderful family birds. The non-negotiable: diet. Eclectus have unusually long digestive tracts and need a high-fibre, fresh-food diet — heavily fortified pellets and artificial colours can harm them. We make sure every Eclectus adopter understands this before approval.

Join the WaitlistThey need high-fibre fresh food — vegetables, fruit, sprouted grains and legumes — with minimal fortified pellets. Artificial vitamins and colourants are linked to toe-tapping and feather issues in this species.
It's the most extreme sexual dimorphism in parrots: males are bright green, females deep red and purple. Early naturalists classified them as two different species.
They're on the quieter side for a medium parrot — an occasional honk or bell-like call rather than constant screaming. Many do well in townhouses.
